Suffering the horrors of human trafficking results in enough tragedy for the victim. However, when that victim is taken from her infant son for an entire ten years, the trauma which results more than doubles.

Kamela lunged at the opportunity to be a domestic worker, imagining the new freedom she would find for herself and her son as well as the fear she could leave behind along with her abusive husband. Unfortunately, her new opportunities left her in a foreign country with no pay, no family contact, and ultimately no identification papers.

Finally, Kamela managed to contact Safe Horizon’s Anti-Trafficking Program. She received help ranging from medical care to obtaining a visa. Eventually, a ticket to her home country allowed her to reunite with her son, and a new life of love and family has resulted thanks to the help of ATP.
